In addition to coaching masters athletes, she was also selected to coach the Canadian National Junior race walk team in the 2010 dual meet between Canada and the United States.

Coach Leo’s Accomplishments

Coach Leo competed in masters track and field events from 1999 until 2006, when an arthritic ankle forced her retirement. As a competitive race walker, she set three Canadian masters records in the 1,500m indoor and outdoor track and the 5,000m road walk.

Her other accomplishments include:

  • Gold medalist - 10,000m team road walk, World Masters Athletics Championships (WMA), Puerto Rico, 2003
  • Silver medalist - 10,000m road walk & Bronze, 5,000m track walk, World Masters Games, Edmonton, 2005
  • Silver medalist - 10,000m team road walk at the WMA Championships, Spain, 2005

I’ve known Coach Nancy since 2006. She’s an extremely knowledgeable race walking coach who expects and demands the utmost from her athletes. Her years of experience as an athlete and as a coach are demonstrated at every training practice. Coach Nancy’s teaching skills and training techniques are of great benefit to those who are motivated to achieve race walking excellence.
